🌍 What is an Ecosystem?
An ecosystem is a natural system where living things—such as plants, animals, and microorganisms—interact with each other and with their nonliving environment like air, water, soil, and sunlight. Together, these interactions create a balanced cycle of life: plants produce food, animals consume plants or other animals, and decomposers recycle nutrients back into the soil.
Ecosystems exist everywhere, from forests, deserts, grasslands, and tundras on land to pounds, rivers, lakes, and oceans in water. Humans also build artificial ecosystems like farms, aquariums, and urban parks. Each ecosystem is unique, but all share the same principle—connection and balance between living and nonliving things that sustain life on Earth.
🌳 Terrestrial Ecosystems (Land-based)
1. Forest Ecosystem
• Tall trees, many animals, lots of rainfall.
• Example: Amazon Rainforest with monkeys, jaguars, snakes, and huge plant diversity.
2. Desert Ecosystem
• Hot days, cold nights, very little water.
• Plants: cactus 🌵 (store water).
• Animals: camels 🐪, snakes, lizards—adapted to dry life.
